BSC fires up renewed dissolving pulp drying machine in Brazil

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL, April 23, 2014-

Brazilian dissolving pulp (DP) producer Bahia Specialty Cellulose (BSC) started up its renewed pulp drying machine, market sources told PPI Latin America. According to contacts, the modernization project took place during this year's 7-day scheduled maintenance downtime in March and was conducted by German equipment supplier Voith. BSC didn't disclose further information about the project.

Signed in Oct. 2013, the contract with Voith included the installation of automatic vacuum control valves, a steam box for improved moisture cross profile, a new shoe press for the pulp dryer which can provide higher linear pressure and a sensor used for measuring pulp water weight. According to the supplier, the project is expected to increase the manufacturing process' efficiency, as well as optimize the machine's performance.
