K-C reassures on recall of new surgical gown
ROSWELL, GA, November 23, 2009- To our valued Kimberly-Clark customers:As you may be aware, Kimberly-Clark has recently introduced KC400 MicroCool* Surgical Gowns to current customers in North America. It has come to our attention that you may have received false and misleading information from other sources regarding KC400 MicroCool* Surgical Gowns, claiming that these gowns have all been recalled due to strikethrough problems. This is not correct information. In an effort to ensure that your staff and patients receive only the best quality products for use, Kimberly-Clark has voluntarily withdrawn a LIMITED number of cases in SPECIFIC LOT CODES due to isolated reports of abrasion-not strikethrough. Because of our vertically-integrated manufacturing process, Kimberly-Clark has been able to quickly put corrective actions in place to ensure that all products shipped to our customers meet or exceed our quality specifications. For reference, KC400 MicroCool* Surgical Gowns continue to deliver breathable impervious protection from contact with blood and body fluids by meeting both ASTM F1670 and ASTM F1671 standards for resistance of materials used in protective clothing to penetration of fluid and blood-borne pathogens. Rest assured Kimberly-Clark continues to be committed to delivering the quality surgical gowns you have come to know and trust.
