PGI decision to exit European roofing business means two German facilities are likely to be consolidated

CLOVERDALE, CA, March 27, 2014-

Polymer Group Inc. plans to leave the European roofing business, it told workers at its Berlin and Aschersleben plants in early March. As part of the plan it is expected that two lines at Berlin will shut and the Aschersleben facility will close altogether, with converting activities being consolidated in Berlin.

A company statement to the media said "We expect that the restructuring resulting from this development will be substantially complete by the end of 2014, subject to compliance with legal obligations and any impacts on timing. During that time, we will follow company policy and will adhere to all local laws, regulations and work councils."
