PGI expands spunmelt capacity in Spain, upgrades carded in Italy, rolls out new ‘specialty soft’ product portfolio

BARCELONA, September 24, 2014-

Polymer Group Inc. started making news even before EDANA's Outlook Conference in Barcelona, Spain had kicked off, when CEO Joel Hackney, Jr. and his executive team held a press conference to announce several initiatives aimed at growing PGI's European business.

Among the moves planned by the company, according to Hackney and Jean-Marc Galvez, his president for Europe, are a new 15,000-tonne spunmelt line at Tarragona, Spain, and an investment in an existing carded nonwoven machine at its Terno plant in Italy. The new spunmelt line will start up in next year's second quarter while the carded investment will come online in the first quarter of 2015.
