First Quality Nonwovens says it will decommission meltblown line at its Pennsylvania plant

CLOVERDALE, CA, August 29, 2016-

First Quality Nonwovens plans to shut down the meltblown line at its Hazleton, Pennsylvania plant, the company confirmed on Friday. The unit is expected to be decommissioned effective December 31, 2016.

Given the company’s focus on hygiene and wipes products, a pure meltblown machine is a somewhat unusual asset, according to one industry observer, with most customers preferring a spunbond or spunmelt fabric for diaper applications although some producers do make materials for specialty wipes from the technology.
