H&V announces follow-on R&D grant award by Virginia Tobacco Commission

EAST WALPOLE, MA, October 18, 2016-

Hollingsworth & Vose, a global manufacturer of advanced materials for filtration, battery separator, and industrial applications, today announced that the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission has awarded its Floyd facility a $500,000 follow-on R&D grant. The H&V proposal was ranked the highest among the 7 grants submitted and passed through the committee without question.

Phase I of the grant was received in 2011 when the Virginia Tobacco Commission awarded H&V’s Floyd facility $750,000 to work on next-generation filtration media. The grant also helped bring additional jobs to the Floyd facility. During Phase 1, Floyd scientists pursued research to evaluate new technology platforms by creating laboratory prototypes and testing ideas and technologies internally. Phase II funding will focus on moving specific areas and products from prototype to commercialization.
