Product innovation, new corporate identities are among features of huge INDEX17 nonwovens trade show

CLOVERDALE, CA, April 20, 2017-

Hot market rumors were few and far between at this month’s INDEX17 trade show in Geneva, Switzerland, but new products as well as new corporate identities were easy to find. Among the other interesting features of this year’s exhibition were the increasing size and sophistication of booths from China, and the number and variety of new product ideas being marshalled to address key customer concerns like the need for softness in hygiene products.

There were a few new machines being discussed by exhibitors. India’s Global Nonwovens confirmed that it will install a second spunlaid line, to start up in the first quarter of 2019. The unit is presently assumed to be a three-beam spunbond machine, but those plans could shift to spunmelt – planning is still in the early stages. The plant is scaled for three machines, and executives think they could gain efficiency by segregating specific products to one machine.
