Glatfelter wraps up purchase of G-P European airlaid business; poised for further growth?

CLOVERDALE, CA, October 11, 2018-

Glatfelter has completed its purchase of Georgia-Pacific’s European airlaid operations, according to an announcement from the acquirer last week. Coming less than two months after landing a buyer for its specialty papers business, observers say Glatfelter is well positioned for further growth in nonwovens-related industries.

Glatfelter CEO Dante Parrini has repeatedly told quarterly investor calls in the last couple of years that his company is looking at possible acquisitions, with a particular focus on filtration, electrical and personal care. With the pending specialty papers sale lined up to net considerably more than the firm is spending on the G-P assets, Glatfelter is in a position to make a significant acquisition if it finds something it wants.
