Local officials cite economic benefits of PFNonwovens’ recently-announced investment in South Africa

PRAGUE, October 19, 2021-

PFNonwovens, (“PFN”), a leading global producer of nonwoven fabrics, has announced a major commitment to invest at least R600 million at its South African based Atlantis site. This significant investment, designed to further develop the manufacturing facility, will lead to the creation of up to 40 new jobs.

The suburb of Atlantis was established during the 1970s by the South African government as an industrial centre. At its peak, in the early to mid-1980’s, there were approximately 50 industrialists in the area, employing people drawn from nearly 8,000 households. Since then, whilst Atlantis has witnessed much success, recently it has been subject to a series of economic challenges. As a result, the government has implemented a range of interventions aimed at revitalizing the local economy and attracting international investment once again.
