New Freudenberg & Vilene automotive headliner machine starts up at Suzhou plant in China

CLOVERDALE, CA, March 14, 2019-

Freudenberg & Vilene Nonwovens started up a new production line to manufacture material for automotive headliners at its plant in Suzhou, China. The line, believed to be built around a needlepunch machine, increases the site’s annual capacity by 8 million square meters.

This appears to be the third needlepunch machine at the plant dedicated to the headliner market, following the 2009 startup of a 3.7 meter Oerlikon machine and a 2016 addition of unknown size and equipment source. When the 2009 machine was originally announced, its capacity was reported as 800 kilograms per hour, or about 3,500 tonnes per year.
