Nippon Shokubai announces price increase for superabsorbent polymer




WILMOT, NH, March 11, 2022-

Superabsorbent polymer giant Nippon Shokubai is raising SAP prices by $500 a tonne “or more”, it announced on Wednesday. The increase will occur “with immediate effect or as contracts and agreements allow.”

The Osaka, Japan-based company describes itself as the world’s largest SAP maker, with annual capacity of 710,000 tonnes. It is also one of the top producers of acrylic acid, a key raw material for superabsorbents, with capacity of 880,000 tonnes.
