Nonwovens firms report both clouds and silver linings caused by COVID-19 – and by ordinary business

CLOVERDALE, CA, May 21, 2020-

COVID-19 has had an impact on nonwovens firms like all other businesses, but three companies that reported on their most recent quarterly earnings provided examples of how the ordinary challenges of growth have not gone away in the face of the pandemic.

Berry Global and Glatfelter talked about the impact on revenues of the contractual pass-through of lower raw material costs. Glatfelter was obviously pleased about its strong sales results in wipes and tabletop. Domtar executives told their quarterly call that they have moved EAM, their nonwovens business, over from their Personal Care portfolio to their pulp and paper business.
