Just a day after spunlacer Jacob Holm announced it is raising prices on all its products to start recouping raw materials cost increases, competitor Suominen made a similar announcement. Suominen will move all prices up October 1; Jacob Holm’s announcement said it would be effective with the fourth quarter.

In its August 22 edition, Nonwovens Markets showed prices for 1.5 denier polyester staple fiber in North America that were 18.1% higher than a year ago. A similar European product was 12.2% higher. Prices for fluff pulp on both sides of the Atlantic were 17.9% higher over the same period.
